05.30 – my day starts at when I get up, go downstairs to make my coffee. It’s nice and quiet so I sit down and log on to my PC at work to check any urgent emails from the night before. I then proceed to plan my day, using an old fashioned A4 piece of paper and map out what I will do by 13.00 and what I need to accomplish after lunch. I try to be as specific as I can with these daily goals. After that I then prepare breakfast and snacks for my wife and 2 children whilst my wife gets them ready for school.
07.15 – I am out the door by and at the gym 15 minutes later. I always make sure to get in my workout first thing or else it’s left behind. The time in the gym enables me to put things into perspective. I give thanks that I am fortunate enough to have my health to workout, fortunate enough to be able to afford a gym membership and I try not to let mundane issues get to me. Having that sense of gratitude for all that you have makes all life’s challenges easier to cope with.
08.30 – I leave the gym and start my drive to work. It takes me an hour to drive there and when I arrive I let my team know that I have arrived so they can get ready for our morning get together to plan out the day and week. I am a financial controller at an internet marketing firm. If you see the old American films of people on the floor (at the stock exchange) and how crazy it can get then that’s a reflection of a day’s work for me.
21.15 – I am done with college and I head off home.
22.15 – I arrive home, have something light to eat, shower and it’s off to bed. I always like to read something inspiring as I nod off.
I find it incredibly important to remain stimulated, inspired, anything that will enable you to reach your goal sooner and with the correct tools.
To finish off, you can say I have everything, a great family, super career with a supportive boss and team, but one thing that eludes me, one that I would do anything to attain and that’s my ACCA Qualification. Because however I want to fancy up my life, about being a glamorous accountant, without that qualification my life does not seem so complete and I WILL ATTAIN IT BY THE END OF NEXT YEAR!!
Keep smiling and striving high, never give up.
